Namhae for the Long Weekend!

I'm climbin a mountain here...

For the May 24 Long weekend, I went to Namhae...an area of South Korea known for its garlic and beauty. It was organized by a group called WINK. It had its ups and downs, but overall it was beautiful--One of the first real touristy things that I have done. We left the Friday night for the uncomfortable 5 hour bus ride. We arrived at a port that took us to the beautiful So Mae Moor Do Island for a hike up a mountain. It was soooooo beautiful...and friggin hot. Who told me to wear a sweater? I was stuck with  the fact that Koreans don't really like exposed shoulders and I had just happened to only be wearing a tank top underneath.

sooo tired and sweaty at this point

Here was the itin...

Hello Everyone,

We have a valuable 3 Day weekend coming up. So lets use it to the fullest by heading far south to the Islands of Namhae. Namhae is really a beautiful area of two large islands at the southern edges of Korea linked by bridges and is less developed than most of Korea. It should be warmer in the south!^^

And we will stay 2 nights at a wooden pension only 1 minute away from Sangju Beach.

Some of the things you will be able to do/see are:
1. So Mae Moor Do Island Tour or the famous Jagged Ridge Island Hike on Saryangdo Island
2. Sea Kayak!
3. Sea Fishing on a Boat with Fishing Pole!
4. Clam Digging in the Mudflats
5. Beach Activities (like beach volleyball is possible)
6. The Beautiful Sangju Beach
7. Sunrise Hike to the Boriam Temple at the Top! (or take the bus)
8. Visit to Namhae’s famous Rice Field Terraces (다랭이 마을)
9. Garlic Festival!
10. Wine Cave with Wine Tasting
11. Our own Dinner BBQ Party with Beer Runs to the Market! Lol
12. Pension walking distance from Sangju Beach.

SEA KAYAK
They have enough KAYAKs for 45 people to do it all at once.
This option will cost 20,000 per person and it will take 2hrs. The 3hr option is 30,000 won. The 3hr option gets you into crevices with caves but 2x the distance so not recommended for those not in shape.

SEA BOAT FISHING
Each Boat will be able to take 6-8 people. And they can provide 4 to 5 boats. The fishing event is 2hours and they provide the fishing pole and bait. They will even put the bait on the hook for you if you prefer. You will be able to have the caught fish cooked or cut up for sashimi for a few thousand won.

MUD CLAM DIGGING
They will provide gloves, a basket, and a tool to dig up clams. The hours good for digging will be from about 7AM to 9:30AM and 4PM to 7PM. The charge will be 5,000 won. You can wear old shoes or even flip flops but bare feet is not recommended as you can get cut by clam shell edges.

On the last day we will head voer to the famous rice field terraces for awesome picture taking opportunities. Then check out the garlic festival before leaving Namhae. Then stop by at a wine cave on the way to taste some Korean made wines. They are generally sweet wines as Korean geology is not conducive to dry wines.

It will be a fantastic long weekend to remember and talked about!!
